2023 Survey – Future directions of the Victorian Heritage Register

In 2023 the Heritage Council conducted a survey to understand the cultural heritage valued by Victorian communities today.

The survey was titled ‘Future directions of the Victorian Heritage Register’.

In the survey people were invited to ‘Have their say’ about the heritage that is important to them.

The survey was open for six and a half weeks on the Engage Victoria online consultation platform. More than 580 organisations and individuals were invited to participate.

A summary of the 644 survey responses is now available.

The survey is part of a broader analysis of the Register that the Heritage Council is undertaking in partnership with Heritage Victoria. The results of the survey will inform any recommended improvements. It will also contribute to shaping the priorities of the Heritage Council’s new five-year strategic plan for 2026–30.
