No.2 Goods Shed, 733 Bourke Street and 707 Collins Street Docklands, Melbourne City (P35475)

The Applicant for the above permit has requested a review of the Executive Director’s refusal to issue P35475. Pursuant to section 108(4) of the Heritage Act 2017 (Vic), the Regulatory Committee of the Heritage Council must now conduct a permit review hearing. The hearing in this matter took place on Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Friday 10 November 2023.

On 17 November 2023, the Minister for Planning exercised her powers under section 109(a) of the Heritage Act 2017 (Vic) to call in this review, requesting a report from the Heritage Council by 8 January 2024. The Committee’s report has been submitted to the Minister for determination.

After considering all submissions received in relation to the permit review, and after conducting a hearing, the Heritage Council has determined, pursuant to section 108(7)(a) of the Heritage Act 2017, to affirm the determination of the Executive Director under review in relation to the Templer Church Hall and refuse to issue Permit No.P35324.

After considering the submissions received in relation to the permit review, and after conducting a hearing, pursuant to Section 108(4)(a) of the Heritage Act 2017, the Heritage Council has determined to confirm the Executive Director’s decision to refuse to allow the use of Castlemaine stone paving within the registered extent of the Place, and to vary Condition 1 of Permit Number P27421 to specify the allowed increase of the crossover at Wimbledon Avenue, Mount Eliza, to a width of up to 3500mm and require the submission of revised plans to this effect to the Executive Director for endorsement.
