Heritage Council Chair Stuart Macintyre AM has chosen the Robert Cochrane Kindergarten in Hawthorn to feature on Sacred Spaces.
The episode will air at 8.30 pm on Sunday on Channel 31.
Robert Cochrane Kindergarten was considered a ‘fine, progressive and influential design’ when it was built in 1948-50
Its associations with the Free Kindergarten Movement and its modern design, as well as its association with donor Robert Cochrane and architect Horace Tribe, make it a significant place. You can read more about it on the Victorian Heritage Database.
Stuart’s brother attended the kindergarten and Stuart passed it each week on his way to the nearby church. Stuart met some current students during his visit.
