Review to strengthen Heritage Protection

A state-wide review into the Heritage Act 1995 has been launched to better protect Victoria’s state-significant buildings and objects.

The Minister for Planning has released a discussion paper as the first step in reviewing the 20-year-old Heritage Act.

The Minister said the review would identify ways to strengthen and simplify planning rules for heritage places.

The following information sessions will be held in Melbourne and regional Victoria:

Melbourne workshops

Workshops will be held on 21 July 2015 at Level 15, 1 Spring Street, Melbourne. There will a morning workshop between 10 am and midday, and an afternoon workshop between 2 pm and 4 pm.

Regional workshops

Warrnambool – was held on Friday 17 July 2015l.

Traralgon – was held on  Friday 24 July 2015.

Ballarat – Tuesday 28 July 2015, 10 am to midday – Provincial Hotel, 121 Lydiard Street North, Ballarat.

Bendigo –  Thursday 30 July 2015, 10 am to midday – Auditorium, La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre, 121 View Street, Bendigo.

Wangaratta – Thursday 6 August 2015 10 am –  midday –  Rural City of Wangaratta Council Chamber, Wangaratta Government Centre, 1st Floor, 62 Ovens Street, Wangaratta.

Heritage Victoria staff will be available to answer questions from participants after the forums between 12-1 pm
