After almost a decade at the coalface of world heritage, Deakin University academic Kristal Buckley will reflect on her years as a vice-president of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

This year’s Heritage Council of Victoria’s Heritage Address on Tuesday 14 April will feature Ms Buckley discussing the role of ICOMOS as the organisation celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2015 and the challenges that lie ahead for heritage on the world and local stage.

Kristal Buckley has had more than 25 years experience as a cultural heritage practitioner, including roles in government, teaching, consulting and non-government organisations.

She holds qualifications in archaeology, anthropology and public policy, and her work has included Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultural heritage assessments, research and management projects.

In her role with ICOMOS, she has worked with the World Heritage Convention, and with cultural heritage issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 2015 Heritage Address with Kristal Buckley: “World Heritage – a decade in review” will be held in the Museum Theatre, Melbourne Museum, Carlton Gardens on Tuesday 14 April at 6 pm.
