What to do if your request to exclude a place or object from the Victorian Heritage Register is refused by the Executive Director of Heritage Victoria.
An exclusion determination is a decision to exclude a place or object from the Victorian Heritage Register. It is made by Heritage Victoria’s Executive Director if a place or object is unlikely to ever be included in the Register.
If your request to exclude a place or object from the Victorian Heritage Register is refused by the Executive Director, or you have a real and substantial interest in the place or object, you can ask us to review the decision.
This is called an exclusion determination review.
You must submit your review request in writing through the HCV Hub. This must be done within 28 days of the Executive Director’s decision.
We appoint a committee of at least three Heritage Council members to conduct the review.
Heritage Council Protocol 8 - Exclusion determination reviews provides detailed information about the exclusion determination review process. It covers the key steps and timeframes, and roles and responsibilities in the process.
