Request a review of an archaeological consent decision by Heritage Victoria’s Executive Director.
If you need to disturb or excavate a heritage place or artefact in Victoria, you must get a consent from Heritage Victoria’s Executive Director. If you are not satisfied with the Executive Director’s decision, you can ask us to conduct a review.
This is called an archaeological consent review.
You must submit your review request in writing through the HCV Hub. This must be done within 28 days of the Executive Director’s decision.
We appoint a committee of at least three Heritage Council members to conduct the review.
Heritage Council Protocol 4 – Archaeological consent reviews provides detailed information about the archaeological consent review process. It covers the key steps and timeframes, and roles and responsibilities in the process.
