A 2023 survey to understand the cultural heritage valued by Victorians.
In 2023, the Heritage Council sought to understand what cultural heritage matters most to Victorian communities. The Future Directions of the Victorian Heritage Register survey asked participants to share their views on the heritage that holds significance in their lives.
The survey ran for more than 6 weeks. More than 580 organisations and individuals were invited to participate.
We received 644 responses, offering valuable insights into the heritage valued by Victorians today.
The survey is a part of a larger analysis of the Victorian Heritage Register. The findings will guide the Heritage Council and Heritage Victoria as we consider improvements to the Register. These insights will also help shape the Heritage Council’s five-year strategic plan for 2026–30.
