Victoria’s history is more meaningful when we see it as part of a bigger picture. We should view heritage as a connected whole with shared themes - not just individual places, objects or events.

The Heritage Council of Victoria and the Aboriginal Heritage Council created a framework to view the state's diverse heritage through these themes. It provides a richer view of heritage.

The framework shows how places and objects connect to larger historical stories. It is a great tool for heritage professionals, local government staff, museum managers, teachers and anyone interested in cultural heritage.

Case studies show how this themed approach improves our understanding and appreciation of Victoria's cultural heritage.
