Climate change is impacting all of Victoria, including our heritage places and objects. These changes may worsen existing issues and create new risks to Victoria's heritage.

Heritage places also have a role in climate adaptation and mitigation. Adapting existing structures often requires fewer resources than building new ones.

Policymakers, heritage agencies and managers of heritage places must work together to make the most of these opportunities. We must also respond to the threats of climate change on our heritage.

To support this, the Heritage Council and Heritage Victoria have developed resources to care for heritage sites and objects in a changing climate. Now is the time to act.

We have created 6 key principles to help protect our heritage from climate change.
