Dr Cooke is one of 10 alternate members on the Heritage Council.

The Heritage Council of Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Alternate National Trust Member, Dr Steven Cooke, as recommended by the Minister for Planning and approved by the Governor in Council.

Dr Steven Cooke has more than 30 years’ experience across academic and heritage practice and is an internationally recognised expert in heritage and difficult histories. He is Chief Executive Officer of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum and represents Australia on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

The Heritage Council is an independent statutory authority made up of 10 members and 10 alternate members with professional qualifications in specific areas outlined in the Heritage Act 2017
