St Kilda Road

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(a) and 42(4) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that St Kilda Road is of cultural heritage significance and should be included in the Heritage Register.

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(a) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that Barunah Plains is of cultural heritage significance and should be included in the Heritage Register.

June 2016

Hearing – Nichols Point Primary School

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that part of the Former Nichols Point Primary School Complex, that is, the shelter shed with an appropriate curtilage, meets the threshold to be considered of State level cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and therefore warrants inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register. At the same time, pursuant to Section 42(1)(c) of the Heritage Act 1995, Council has determined that the remainder of the place is not of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and does not warrant inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register.

Hearing – Bendigo East Primary School and Avenue of Honour

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(c) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that the Former Primary School and Avenue of Honour at 93 Strickland Road, East Bendigo, does NOT warrant inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register. Detailed reasons for the decision have now been provided.

HC Meeting

At its June 2016 meeting the Heritage Council agreed to include the following place in the Victorian Heritage Register:
Sandringham Masonic Hall (Word 3 MB)

The Heritage Council also resolved that part of the recommended extent, that is, with the exception of part of the north-east section (the former Amcor site), is of cultural heritage significance and should be included in the Victorian Heritage Register in accordance with s42(1) and (4) of the Heritage Act 1995:

Pursuant to Section 54 of the Heritage Act 1995 the Heritage Council has determined to amend the registration of the Flinders Street Railway Station Complex in the Victorian Heritage Register.

Hearing – Rogers Memorial Reserve, Pascoe Vale

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(d)(i) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has refused to register Rogers Memorial Reserve and refers the recommendation and submissions to the Moreland City Council for consideration for an amendment to the Moreland Planning Scheme.

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that part of the Kilmore Outdoor Recreation Public Heritage Precinct is of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and warrants inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register. At the same time, pursuant to Section 42(1)(c) of the Heritage Act 1995, Council has determined that the remainder of the Place is not of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and does not warrant inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register.

March 2015

Hearing – Hanging Rock Reserve and Hanging Rock Eastern Paddock

The Heritage Council has considered recommendations and submissions received in relation to Hanging Rock Reserve and Hanging Rock Eastern Paddock.

Pursuant to s42(1)(a) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined that the Hanging Rock Reserve is of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and warrants inclusion in the Victorian Heritage Register.  At the same time the Committee has determined, pursuant to s42(1)(c) that the Eastern Paddock is not of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and does not warrant inclusion in the Heritage Register.

The Heritage Council has considered a recommendation and submissions received in relation to the former Oriental Hotel.

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(c) the Heritage Council has determined that the place is not of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and does not warrant inclusion in the Heritage Register.

Ministerial determination – Royal Park

On 8 May 2014, the Minister for Planning exercised his powers under s.43 of the Heritage Act 1995 to call in the recommendation to include Royal Park in the Victorian Heritage Register from the Heritage Council.

On 21 February 2014 the Executive Director, Heritage Victoria, had recommended to the Heritage Council that Royal Park be included in the Victorian Heritage Register on the basis that it satisfied Criterion A, B and E of the Heritage Council’s registration criteria. At the Minister’s request, the Heritage Council prepared a report on the Executive Director’s recommendation and all submissions that had been lodged in response to the recommendation. On 21 October 2014, the Minister determined in accordance with s.42(1)(a) of the Heritage Act to include Royal Park in the Victorian Heritage Register on the basis that it satisfies Criterion A, B and E of the Heritage Council’s registration criteria. In making his decision, the Minister also determined in accordance with s.42(4) of the Heritage Act to provide an exemption for most of the works and activities associated with the construction and maintenance of East West Link. The Heritage Council has considered a recommendation and submissions received in relation to the Palace Theatre.

Pursuant to Section 42(1)(c) the Heritage Council has determined that the place is not of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and does not warrant inclusion in the Heritage Register. The Heritage Council recommend that the Palace Theatre be referred to the relevant planning authority for consideration for an amendment to the planning scheme.
