After considering all submissions received in relation to the permit appeal, and after conducting a hearing, pursuant to Section 76(4)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined to confirm the decision of the Executive Director and determines to refuse to issue a permit in relation to the proposed works.

After considering all submissions received in relation to the permit appeal, and after conducting a hearing, pursuant to Section 76(2)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined to issue a permit in part for proposed works associated with permit application P23303, that is for the installation of two balustrades to the Bourke Street colonnade, at the General Post Office. At the same time, pursuant to Section 76(2)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined to confirm the decision of the Executive Director and refuse to issue a permit in relation to the remainder of the proposed works.

H2256 – Camperdown Botanic Gardens and Arboretum, 220 Park Road, Camperdown – P23732

After considering the appeal, pursuant to Section 76(4)(a) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined to issue permit P23732 in part, that is for the two (2) southernmost cabins as described herein, at the Camperdown Botanic Gardens and Arboretum. At the same time, pursuant to Section 76(4)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council has determined to confirm the decision of the Executive Director in relation to the remainder of the proposed works, that is, for the remaining four (4) proposed cabins, the jumping pillow and the swimming pool.

Pursuant to Section 76(4)(c) of the Heritage Act 1995 the Heritage Council determines to vary Permit P15668 as follows:

  • Delete condition 1(a), condition 1(b) and condition 1(c).
  • Vary condition 4 to read: The applicant shall appoint an interpretation consultant to prepare an interpretation program for the part of the registered place to be developed in accordance with this permit. Details of the proposed interpretation program are to be submitted to the Executive Director for approval. The approved interpretation program is to be implemented by the applicant as part of the approved works.
  • The Committee finds that condition 5 should be retained.

The Permits Committee has determined to vary the permit conditions to read as follows:

  • Condition 1(a) – Reduce the height of the Corner Building to RL55.76, being the parapet height of the existing Annexe building where it abuts the northern tower of the Hotel Windsor.
  • Condition 1(b) – Reduce the height of the rooftop additions (known as the ‘Stick’) to 5.65 metres above the height of the Corner Building, or other level as approved by the Executive Director in writing.
